Manage your Social Media the Right Way

The internet revolutionized marketing. With time, it became important for brands to be on the internet, then on social media. While there are so many social media platforms out there, the choice of which platform your business should have a presence on is entirely a positioning/strategy discussion. However, once you figure that out, it becomes important that you get social media management right, and that is why I wrote this article

before we I share any revolutionary ideas on how to manage social media for your business, it is important that I point out the fact that social media management is different from social media marketing, this affects the human resource element as well.

Simply put, social media marketing is the strategy and social media management is the execution. These two may sometimes be confusing. My assumption here is you have done your branding right and you have figured out your ideal customer (buyer personas).

Understanding Your Audience:

Kenya boasts a vibrant social media scene, but a one-size-fits-all approach won’t do. Utilize keyword research tools to understand what content resonates with your target demographic and psychographic. For instance, if your target audience uses Kiswahili in communication, research some Kiswahili Keywords i alongside English to ensure you connect with a wider audience.

Crafting Compelling Content:

Kenyans are known for their appreciation of humor, storytelling, and visually engaging content. Tailor your posts to these preferences. Leverage high-quality images and videos to grab attention, and weave humor or relatable narratives into your captions. Don’t forget the power of user-generated content (UGC) – encourage your audience to share their experiences to build a sense of community.

Optimizing for Engagement:

Social media thrives on interaction. Post consistently during peak hours based on your audience’s location. Use relevant hashtags to increase discoverability, and actively respond to comments and messages. Social listening like Hootsuite and Sprout Social can help you identify trending topics and conversations relevant to your brand, allowing you to participate organically.

Building a Winning Strategy:

Data is key! Utilize built-in analytics tools on social media platforms to track your performance and identify what’s working. Analyze engagement metrics, reach, and website traffic to refine your strategy. Remember, social media management is a marathon, not a sprint. Be patient, experiment, and adapt your approach based on the data you gather.

Tools Make Work Easier

Consider using Social Media management tools to perform actions like post scheduling, publishing, monitoring, engagement, and analyzing  data from multiple social media networks in one place. You can also automate your workflow so that you can have time for other important activities like content creation. Read about social media management tools for 2024 here
